"The practices are designed to be used alone. But the first weeks can be the hardest, and having someone to work through them with can be the thing that helps you keep going."

Everything on this website stays free. The audio, the scripts, the reading behind it all — none of that changes. What I offer here is different: my time, one to one, for anyone who wants a more personal way in.

Jeremy, developer of the Guided Imagery Programme

What a session is

A session is a quiet, unhurried hour together over Zoom. We start where you are. Some people come wanting help establishing a rhythm with the practices. Some want the imagery adapted to their own life and their own body. Some simply want to be guided through a practice in real time, with a voice responding to them rather than a recording.

These sessions are personal support for living well after stroke. They are not a medical treatment, and they are not a promise of physical recovery — the same honest framing that runs through the whole programme. They sit alongside your rehabilitation team, never in place of it. What they offer is company, experience, and a practice shaped around you.

What we might work on
Before we meet (optional)

If you'd like a gentle way in before our first call, spend a little time with one of the free practices — whichever one speaks to where you are. There's nothing to prepare and nothing to get right. Noticing how a practice sits with you, unhurried and in your own time, tends to give us a truer starting point than anything we could piece together in the first few minutes of a call.

It isn't a test, and there are no right answers. Whatever you notice — including "nothing much happened" — is useful, and something we'll simply talk through together. If you'd rather come to the session cold, that's completely fine too; we'll find your bearings in the hour itself.

Ways to work together

This work tends to unfold over a few sessions rather than one. A single session is a good way to begin; the bundles below carry a gentler per-session rate for those who want to see it through. All prices are in US dollars.

Single session
$120
One 60-minute session. A place to start, with no commitment beyond it.
Most chosen
Three sessions
$330
$110 a session. Enough to settle into a practice and find your rhythm with it.
Six sessions
$600
$100 a session. For working through the full arc, toward practising confidently on your own.
If cost is a barrier

The programme itself is free for exactly this reason, and it stays that way. If a paid session isn't within reach right now, please just use the free practices. They are the same work. If money is the only thing standing between you and a session, write to me anyway.

About Jeremy

I'm the developer of Living Beyond Stroke, a free resource built around two pillars: the science of neuroplasticity and motor imagery, and a Guided Imagery Programme adapted for life after stroke.

I hold a Master of Social Sciences majoring in Psychology from Waikato University, and a Diploma of Solution-Oriented Hypnosis, which I completed with Dr Robert McNeilly at Ampersand in Melbourne in 1998. My graduate research into quality of life after spinal cord injury was carried out under Professor Robert Cummins at Deakin University in Melbourne. The guided imagery approach is something I've been developing and refining for around thirty years.

Dr McNeilly is a medical doctor who studied directly with Milton Erickson, the physician widely regarded as the founder of modern clinical hypnosis. He brought the solution-oriented approach to Australia and taught it with a simple emphasis I've carried ever since: that the person already holds the resources they need, and the work is to help them find their own way to them. That's the spirit these sessions are offered in — gentle, respectful, and led by you rather than done to you.

I haven't had a stroke myself. My work has always been alongside the people who have, as a researcher and a guide rather than someone handing down a treatment.
